Unlimited free transportation on your home road. Half fare when you travel off your home road. Spouse - Same as employee. Employees hired on May 1, 1951 through April 30, 1962, with nine or more years continuous service on April 30, 1971: Unlimited free transportation on your home road. Half fare when you travel off your home road. Spouse - Twelve free round trips per year, then half fare anywhere on Amtrak. Employees hired on May 1, 1962 through April 30, 1971, with less than nine years continuous service on April 30, 1971: Twelve free round trips per year on your home road. Then half fare anywhere on Amtrak. Spouse - Half fare anywhere on Amtrak. Employees hired after May 1, 1971 through April 27, 1981: 25% off the highest priced ticket Amtrak sells. There is no free transportation or discounts. It is recommended to price the trip with and without the pass and reserve the least expensive fare. Spouse - Same. Employees hired after April 27, 1981: No passes or discounts. What is a "Widow's Pass"? Spouse must have started with the Railroad prior to April 27, 1952, to be eligible for this type of pass and Amtrak will need a copy of the Death Certificate.
